Introduction

The Assistant Baker – Pastry Production Support will join our vibrant bakery team to assist in the daily creation of high‑quality breads, cakes, and pastries. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates who have completed high school or vocational training (SMA/SMK) and are eager to develop hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment. Working six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, you will support the head baker and production staff in preparing doughs, mixing batters, decorating cakes, and maintaining strict food‑safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of dough, batters, fillings, and glazes according to standardized recipes.
  • Operate mixers, ovens, proofing cabinets, and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support the decoration of cakes and pastries, applying icing, fondant, and creative piping techniques.
  • Create simple fondant characters and decorative elements when required, enhancing the visual appeal of specialty items.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production line, ensuring consistency in texture, flavor, and appearance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following HACCP and local health regulations.
  • Perform routine inventory checks, label ingredients, and assist with stock rotation to minimize waste.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team, communicating any issues or deviations promptly.
  • Participate in occasional overtime or weekend shifts to meet peak demand periods, such as holidays and special events.
  • Help with the packaging and labeling of finished products for retail display and wholesale orders.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent; a background in culinary arts (Tata Boga) is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a baker, bread‑production staff, or kitchen assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude; ability to work well within a team.
  • Demonstrated discipline, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Honesty, responsibility, and a willingness to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, including “serabutan” (general helper) duties as needed.
  • Willingness to work overtime during high‑volume periods.
  • Basic cake‑decorating skills; ability to pipe basic designs and apply simple fondant decorations.
  • Creative flair for crafting fondant characters is considered a valuable plus.
